Telling an Under-Told Story: Boulder County Latino History Project & Teacher Workshop

Kent Willmann, University of Colorado and Teachers from Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley Schools and Justine Vigil-Tapia, Boulder County Latino History Project Advisory Committee.

Teachers, historians and community members partnered to document Boulder County Latino History, which was virtually absent from libraries and classrooms. The community collected and cataloged more than 1600 primary sources: photos, newspaper clippings, oral histories, and census maps. Many are used in a recently published two-volume book. Explore how teachers used immigration journals with interactive maps, KKK documents and veteran stories to create lessons for inclusive K-12 classrooms.
